Claire Dailey is a Legal Worker in the Government Misconduct and Racial Justice docket, where she works on racial justice, LGBTQ discrimination, gender justice, mass incarceration, the criminalization of dissent and First Amendment issues, including on behalf of environmental and animal rights activists targeted by the Green Scare. CCR cases that Claire has worked on include U.S. and Vulcan Society, Inc. v. City of New York, Ashker v. Brown, Aref v. Holder, Blum v. Holder, Animal Legal Defense Fund, et al. v. Otter, et al., U.S. v. Johnson, Doe v. Jindal, Bandele v. City of New York, Walton v. NYSDOCS, Arar v. Ashcroft et al., Corrie et al. v. Caterpillar, and efforts to halt the roundups, detention, and imminent deportations of hundreds of Haitian nationals by the U.S. government, following the 2010 earthquake. Since 2009, Claire has administered the Jailhouse Lawyers Handbook, a widely-requested resource for prisoners. She served as a union steward at CCR from 2008 to 2010.
